secure2trust Client Only Version: Protecting documents on the desktop

Protection of information is vital for many reasons, not least to ensure that sensitive data is not leaked from a company, or that information is not changed without authority. secure2trust is a data security enforcement agent that can be used as a standalone application, to protect documents from the moment that secure2trust is installed on a desktop. No setup of license servers or databases is needed to use the client only version of secure2trust.
Installation is very quick and easy and once installed a wizard runs to allow you to create an author account certificate.
Once installed you can use secure2trust on your desktop or laptop, to protect documents either from within the application (e.g. Microsoft Office Word) as you create them, or alternatively, you can use right click in Explorer, which allows you to protect already existing documents and multiple documents.

This version of secure2trust is useful for situations where:

  1. you have a  limited number of users needing to protect and access protected documents
  2. you have a need to protect documents which can then be sent out to users who need to access those protected documents but not protect documents (secure2view supports the access of protected document but does not allow users to apply protection to documents)

secure2trust Identity Linked Access Control

secure2trust offers a number of ways of controlling access to documents, these include:

  • Password
  • Active Directory membership
  • Digital certificates
  • Windows CardSpace claims
  • Geographic location of the user (via GPS)
  • Anyone access (no access control)
  • Or a combination of the above to give multiple authentication control

 

secure2trust Content Usage Controls

Once access has been gained you can then decide what can be done with the content of the document, the policy on document usage can contain the following controls:

  • No copying content (this allows continued, but secured collaboration on the document content)
  • No printing content (or allow printing but prevent printing to image writers, etc.)
  • Read Only
  • No access until
  • No access after
  • No access in remote desktops
  • No access in virtual machines

This version of secure2trust does not provide functions such as, document recovery, audit of protected documents, automated application of security policies, etc. To use functions such as these you need the enterprise version of secure2trust
